Staff Development Coordinator/Nurse Educator Job Opening

WILLCARE, a successful regional leader in the home health care industry, currently has a job opening for a Staff Development Coordinator (aka RN Nurse Educator) in our Connecticut service area .  In business for over 25 years, WILLCARE operates Certified/Medicare, Long Term Care, Licensed/Private Duty, as well as non-medical services and supplemental staffing agencies. We provide qualified skilled and non-skilled services focusing on preventative, rehabilitative and therapeutic care to our clients in all applicable settings. We have branch offices in Western NY, Hudson Valley NY, Connecticut, and Ohio.

Job Title:  Staff Development Coordinator (aka RN Nurse Educator)
Job Location(s):  Connecticut - will be able to choose Wethersfield, Waterbury, or New Haven as a home base office.

STAFF DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR JOB SUMMARY

Assume responsibility for orienting clinical staff and providing ongoing education for all clinicians based on identified learning needs.

 

STAFF DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, organize and coordinate orientation program for new clinicians.
  • Develop, organize and coordinate ongoing clinical education programs.
  • Identify core clinical competencies and perform competency evaluations/skills assessments.
  • Work with the office manager to maintain a tracking system to track all mandatory education and certification requirements and collaborate with RN supervisors to ensure that all staff is meeting requirements.
  • Assist the branch administrator / director in program and policy development, implementation and evaluation.
  • Identify and train preceptors to work with the new clinicians.
  • Recruitment and retention of clinical staff including identifying and screening applicants, interviewing candidates and making recommendations for hire.*
  • Follow-up on employee related concerns.
  • Assist the supervisors in the monitoring of employees on work plans. Provide support and guidance in the area.
  • Contributing member of the PI Committee.
  • Assist in auditing medical and personnel records as needed.
  • Review annual health assessments.
  • May take direction from the Corporate Compliance Officer.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, College or University. Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Current license/registration by state of hire as a Registered Nurse.
  • Three (3) years experience as a Community Health Nurse preferred.
  • One (1) year experience preferred in either a Supervisory or Performance Improvement/Quality Assurance role.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
