RN Weekend Coordinator Job Opening - Buffalo NY

WILLCARE, a successful regional leader in the home health care industry, currently has a job opening for an RN Weekend Coordinator in our Buffalo NY branch.  In business for over 25 years, WILLCARE operates Certified/Medicare, Long Term Care, Licensed/Private Duty, as well as non-medical services and supplemental staffing agencies. We provide qualified skilled and non-skilled services focusing on preventative, rehabilitative and therapeutic care to our clients in all applicable settings. We have branch offices in Western NY, Hudson Valley NY, Connecticut, and Ohio.

RN WEEKEND COORDINATOR JOB SUMMARY

Assumes responsibility for and is accountable for the 24 hour weekend delivery of care consistent with the philosophy, goals, policies and procedures of the Agency. Utilizes principles of management and the nursing process to achieve optimal care. Primary functions are to supervise, instruct and guide nursing and auxiliary personnel during established “weekend” hours.

 

RN WEEKEND COORDINATOR ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrates appropriate judgment skills to be able to make independent clinical decisions in routine patient care matters.
  • Demonstrates appropriate judgment skills to be able to assign clinical cases to weekend field staff.
  • Responsive to staff when changes occur in patient activity and workload, assures full time weekend staff meet productivity.
  • Determines staffing necessary to accomplish stated objectives.
  • Performs appropriate documentation to maintain the standards set by the Agency or Fiscal intermediary.
  • Ensures coordination of Agency Nursing services with other services, both internal and external.
  • Fosters an environment for open communication and collaborative practice.
  • Communication with supervisors and schedulers; provide a weekend report.
  • Assists in prioritizing field visits based on the patient’s health status and anticipated needs.
  • Communicates on a regular basis, both orally and in writing, to professional staff, patients, families,case managers, supervisors and others as appropriate.
  • Serves as a liaison between Agency and contracted providers, and other health and social service agencies.
  • Assists in coordinating for evening, night and weekend nursing coverage.
  • Demonstrates mastery of State regulations and Medicare standards.

 

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, College or University.
  • Must possess at least one of the following combinations of education & experience:  a. Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BSN); OR  b. Associate’s Degree in Nursing plus two years of certified home health care nursing experience 
  • Currently licensed and registered to practice with the State Board of Nursing.
  • One (1) year experience in medical/surgical nursing required.
  • Home Health experience preferred.
  • Current BLS certification.*
  • Demonstrates leadership, organization and communication expertise.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

*Requirement for Pediatric and IV cases only.
