BLUE Stars - November 2012

Building Lasting Unforgettable Experiences... At WILLCARE, that's what we do best!  We strive to provide exceptional customer service for all our customers, including patients, their families, physicians, vendors, referral sources, and co-workers.  We view every interaction as a chance to leave our customers with positive experiences that they will never forget.

Our BLUE program (short for Building Lasting Unforgettable Experiences of course!) recognizes those WILLCARE team members who've gone above and beyond to provide fantastic customer service.   Once a month, the WILLCARE employees that best embody the spirit of BLUE are selected to be our BLUE Stars.  Learn more about our November 2012 winners below...

Melissa Bigelow

Physical Therapist
Buffalo NY Certified Branch

Why She Was Nominated:
WILLCARE would like to recognize Melissa for giving a GREAT experience during her on-site orientations. She is a fantastic preceptor and a very kind person.  She never gets annoyed with new employees’ questions and always patiently answers them to the best of her ability. If she doesn't know the answer, she always gets back to them within 24 hours. All of her patients adore her and greatly enjoy working with her. If a patient does not have anyone to assist with shopping, she will pick up whatever they need and bring it to them on her time off.   Selected 11/2012

Julie Fineman

Physical Therapist
Kingston NY Certified Branch

Why She Was Nominated:

During the power outage due to Hurricane Sandy, Julie took her patient’s soiled bed linens and clothes and did his laundry because he lives with his elderly, ill aunt. The patient’s home had a tree and wires down across their driveway, limiting access in and out of the home.  Julie went above and beyond to assist this patient and his family during the power and phone outage. Selected 11/2012

Melissa Lown

Nursing Supervisor
Middletown NY Licensed Branch

Why She Was Nominated:

WILLCARE provides private duty home care aide services at a residential facility on a daily basis. One of our aides called out (her shift began at 6AM) and no other aide was available. Melissa went to this facility to assist these patients as per the aide care plans established. These patients are not classified as priority one patients.  However, Melissa recognizes the importance in maintaining WILLCARE's reputation as Hudson Valley's # 1 agency of choice both within the facility where these patients reside, with the patients themselves, as well as their family members.  Melissa is a true example of what BLUE is all about. She is a true asset to the WILLCARE team!   Selected 11/2012

Tadd Newell

RN Case Manager
Jamestown NY Certified Branch

Why He Was Nominated:

A patient's family member submitted a contact form via the WILLCARE website stating that:  "We felt the need to tell WILLCARE about the wonderful, professional care our father received from your nurse, Tadd Newell.  Tadd has made our father’s recovery from surgery and his use of the 'wound vac' a much more pleasant experience than it would have been without his calm, reassuring and competent presence.  We are so glad to have chosen WILLCARE because of Tadd's skilled care." Selected 11/2012

Yekaterina Nezgovorova

Home Health Aide
 Buffalo NY Licensed Branch

Why She Was Nominated:

WILLCARE received a very nice letter in the mail from one of our patient’s sons.  The son stated: "We appreciate Yekaterina’s compassionate and gracious care that she provides to my mother. Sometimes, a family needs that extra special touch that only people who really care can give. We found that in Yekaterina.  She lifted our burden and lightened our load. She provided a comfortable solution in a trying time. We thank you very much for all you have done. We are very grateful to Yekaterina and WILLCARE.”  Selected 11/2012

Christine Wolcott

Home Health Aide
 Olean NY Licensed Branch

Why She Was Nominated:

One of WILLCARE’s young adult patients was forced to move in with a family member due to an illness. With medical treatment, rehab, and care from our aides, this patient is now well enough to live alone.  The patient did not want to take the hospital bed that she has been sleeping in to her new apartment and she did not have a regular bed. Maintaining HIPAA standards, Christine notified the members of her church that one of her patients was in need of a bed. Not only did she get a bed for her patient, she also collected many other donations that the patient needed to move into her apartment.  Selected 11/2012
